It’s the last Full Moon of the astrological year!
March’s Full Moon goes by the name Worm Moon. Originally it referred to the appearance of earthworms in the spring soil. According to the Almanac, research has found in the 1760s, Captain Jonathan Carver visited the Naudowessie (Dakota) and other Native American tribes, writing the Worm Moon refers to a different sort of “worm” beetle larvae that emerges from thawing bark of trees and other winter hideouts at this time.
We have the Moon in Virgo and our Sun in Pisces. Pisces is ruled by the 12th House packed with cosmic energies. Pisces is ruled by Neptune which is a spiritual planet full of metaphysical powers. This energy is dreamy and otherworldly. Pisces invites us to surrender to the things we can not control. With all Full Moons we experience polarity. Opposite of the Pisces Sun is our Virgo Moon. Virgo is a very grounding sign that teaches us that practical organization towards our goals brings the productivity to make all our dreams come true. Whether you are refocusing on weekly routines or physical health goals, Virgo and Pisces energies can help you find balance within your spiritual and physical health. Remember Virgo can be associated with perfection leading to self sabotage. Sometimes we see that to do list and believe it all needs to get done right this second. On the flip side, Pisces is here to remind us we are right where we need to be and to go with the flow.
We will also have a Blood Moon Eclipse. A Blood Moon is when we have a Full Moon in a Total Eclipse that appears reddish in color as it is illuminated by sunlight filtered and refracted by the Earth's atmosphere. A Lunar Eclipse happens when the moon passes through the Earth’s shadow. It can be looked at as the Universe changing gears. In ancient times an eclipse was something to marvel at or even fear, especially a Blood-Red Moon. Many thought this was a sign of bad luck or the belief the Gods were angry. Spiritually an eclipse can be a portal into another life. Some believe if you have wandered off your soul's path the eclipse will set you right. If you reincarnated with a specific life purpose and have gotten off track an eclipse can bring you back to where you need to be! If you follow your birth chart look at the theme of the House the eclipse falls in. Love, money, family, joy, health, etc. Changes will come to this area. When an eclipse hits your Sun, Moon, or Rising signs it becomes even more powerful!
Full Moons illuminate things that may or may not be working for us. I think of this time as a release or the letting go phase during our lunar journey. As a Full Moon is capable of raising the tides it can also raise our emotions and intuitive abilities. This makes it the perfect time to celebrate with a Full Moon Ritual. As the surface of the moon wanes, so can our energy around anything you wish to release. Create some time to get grounded and reflect on anything that no longer serves you. This can be people, places, things, limiting beliefs, habits, etc.
