Sturgeon Full Moon August 9, 2025

This week we have the Lion’s Gate Portal on Friday and a Sturgeon Full Moon on Saturday. Next week Mercury Retrograde comes to an end on Monday August 11th. Our Full Moon is named the Sturgeon Moon due to the giant Sturgeon fish available for fishing in the Great Lakes during this time of the summer. 

While the Sun in Leo is focused on fun and creative expression the moon in Aquarius urges balance between fun and the needs of our friends. This can be a great time to get in touch or reconnect with friends. But for some it could mean a time when we find friendships running their course. Take some time to reflect on this. Aquarius rules the 11th house which represents hopes, dreams and wishes! Also known as The House of the Thing Wished For. This is where abundance is found, where wishes become reality. 

Full Moons illuminate things that may or may not be working for us. I think of this time as a release or the letting go phase during our lunar journey. As a Full Moon is capable of raising the tides it can also raise our emotions and intuitive abilities. This makes it the perfect time to celebrate with a Full Moon Ritual. As the surface of the moon wanes, so can our energy around anything you wish to release. Create some time to get grounded and reflect on anything that no longer serves you. This can be people, places, things, limiting beliefs, habits, etc.

Sturgeon Moon Healing: As the Sturgeon Moon rises, I set the intention to clear any stagnant energy. During this lunar cycle I find forgiveness and healing to move on from any past relationships that no longer resonate with me. I trust that releasing anything that is not for my highest good will create room for something even better!
